Canada's Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) allows you to work anywhere in Canada in any job after completing your studies — a critical stepping stone to Canadian Permanent Residency.
What is the PGWP?
The PGWP is an open work permit that allows international graduates of eligible Canadian programs to work full-time in Canada for a period equal to the length of their study program, up to a maximum of 3 years.
Who Qualifies?
- Have completed a full-time program of at least 8 months at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada
- Have a valid student permit when you graduate
- Apply within 180 days of receiving your final marks
Pathway to Canadian PR
After gaining 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada on your PGWP, you can apply for Permanent Residency through Express Entry (CEC) or Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).
Which Canadian Colleges Are Best for PGWP?
AGS recommends Seneca Polytechnic, Humber College, and George Brown College in Toronto.
